The death toll in the suspected adulterated toddy case in Hyderabad rose to eight on Friday (July 11, 2025). According to Balanagar zone assistant commissioner of police (ACP) P. Naresh Reddy, the official count remains at eight.

“Many families have been cremating the bodies without informing the police. While they have similar symptoms, we are not able to confirm such cases. We are monitoring the situation,” he said.

A forensic doctor from Gandhi Hospital confirmed that postmortem examinations have been completed on six bodies.

Meanwhile, over 49 individuals remain hospitalised across the city. Of these, 34 patients, including nine undergoing dialysis, are undergoing treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), while 15 others are admitted to Gandhi Hospital.

“Nine patients are undergoing dialysis and two others may need dialysis. While nine patients are stable, 11 others remain under observation,” NIMS said in a latest bulletin.

The affected individuals were brought to hospitals on Tuesday (July 8, 2025) night after experiencing symptoms such as diarrhoea, low blood pressure, dizziness, and fatigue. Since then, hospitals have reported a steady influx of patients presenting with similar complaints.
