6,960 candidates absent for Group-IV examination in Erode district

As many as 6,960 candidates failed to appear for the Group-IV recruitment examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) in Erode district on Saturday.

The examination was held to recruit candidates for various posts including village administrative officers, junior assistants, typists, and forest guards. Of the 41,236 candidates who were issued admit cards, 34,278 candidates (83%) appeared for the exam, while 6,960 (17%) were absent.

The exam was conducted from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in 142 centres across nine taluks in the district. To ensure its smooth conduct, 142 chief invigilators, nine zonal officers, 10 flying squad officers, 31 mobile monitoring teams, and 149 videographers were deployed.

District Collector S. Kandasamy inspected several examination centres across the district. He reviewed the arrangements and monitored facilities provided for differently-abled candidates, including the appointment of scribes for visually impaired aspirants. Special bus services were arranged for the convenience of candidates, and all essential amenities such as uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, and toilet facilities were ensured at the centres.

Salem district

In Salem district, a total of 76,999 candidates had registered for the exam and 65,249 had appeared. The exam was conducted in 287 halls across 217 centres in 14 taluks.

To ensure smooth conduct and effective monitoring, the district administration deployed 287 chief invigilators, 71 mobile monitoring teams and 25 flying squads. District Collector R. Brindha Devi inspected the examination process at Kottai Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Salem city.
