A special action plan will be implemented for the development of Gajuwaka, Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao announced on Sunday.
He along with AP TDP President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao laid foundation stones for several development works in the Zone VI in Wards 65, 71, and 86, amounting to around ₹7 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that continuous efforts are being made to develop Gajuwaka, a key industrial region of the city. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the NDA government is focusing on developmental and welfare programmes across the State.
In Ward 65, projects worth approximately ₹5.55 crore are being undertaken in areas such as Priyadarshini Colony, Visakha Nagar, Sanjeevayya Giri Colony, and Ashok Nagar. These include the construction of drains, retaining walls, and drinking water pipelines.
In Ward 71, new drinking water pipelines are being laid in Autonagar at a cost of ₹49.60 lakh. In Ward 86, CC roads, RCC drains, CC culverts, and VRCC box culverts are being constructed with GVMC funds, at an estimated cost of ₹1.54 crore.
Later, Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said that efforts are being made to ensure Gajuwaka Constituency stands first in terms of development across the State. He assured that every ward in Gajuwaka would be developed with all amenities for the citizens.
Ward corporators B Narasimha Pathrudu, Rajana Ramarao and Lella Koteswara Rao, TDP Deputy Floor Leader Gandham Srinivasa Rao were present.
Mayor seeks report on parks
Mayor P. Srinivasa Rao has strictly directed Revenue and Town Planning officials to ensure that the GVMC parks and vacant lands are protected from encroachments.
He recently conducted a meeting with GVMC’s Town Planning and Revenue officials in his chamber, following allegations of encroachments of parks in some areas under Zone I.
The Mayor emphasised on the need for strict measures to prevent encroachments of GVMC parks and vacant lands across the city. He pointed out that many government lands in the city were being encroached upon and called on officials to take control of the situation.
He also asked officials to submit a comprehensive report detailing the total number of parks and vacant lands, already encroached plots, developed parks, lands exchanged through mutual transfer, and park records as per government G.Os. He also said that he would personally inspect parks and vacant lands at the field level.
