Madras High Court Judge Justice L. Victoria Gowri inaugurated the 12th edition of the Dindigul book festival on Thursday.
The High Court judge inaugurated the book fair in the presence of Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan at the Anguvilas Higher Secondary School grounds.
Appreciating the organisers for taking care in organising the annual event, Justice Victoria Gowri said the event was organised with the main objective of ensuring participation of all, particularly school and college students.
She urged the students to make the best use of the book festival. She said India was a country rich in culture and tradition and there was so much to learn about the country.
She told the students to read books, particularly those on India and learn about its greatness. India was a country with many great freedom fighters and leaders. She urged the students to read the biographies and autobiographies of the freedom fighters and leaders.
Collector Saravanan said various programmes have been organised as part of the book festival.
The main aim of the book festival was to bring the students to the book festival. Arrangements have been made for the students and the public. There are over 120 book stands and 100 book publishing houses that have set up their stalls at the event, he said.
