The Third Additional District Court in Coimbatore sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a woman near Periyanaickenpalayam in 2014.
Judge A.K. Babulal awarded the punishment to K. Nagaraj, 50, a native of Sathyamangalam in Erode district.
According to the police, Nagaraj murdered N. Subbulakshmi, 51, a resident of West Street at Thekkupalayam near Periyanaickenpalayam, on August 12, 2014. The Periyanaickenpalayam police arrested him based on a complaint from Subbulakshmi’s husband M. Neelakandan.
The court found Nagaraj guilty of the charge against him and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment on Tuesday. The court also slapped a fine of ₹1,000 on him.
