ATS gets five days custody of Coimbatore serial blast accused ‘Tailor’ Raja

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday was granted five days custody of ‘Tailor’ Raja, 50, a key accused in the February 14, 1998, serial bombings in Coimbatore and various communal murder cases across Tamil Nadu.

Raja, who had been absconding for 29 years, was arrested by Coimbatore ATS and a special team of the city police from Vijayapura district in Karnataka on July 9, 2025.

The ATS, in its plea submitted before the Fifth Judicial Magistrate Court, sought the custody of Raja for seven days for a detailed interrogation. The magistrate granted five days custody of the accused and directed the agency to produce him before the court on July 21 evening.
