The All Women Police, Ashok Nagar, arrested a trainer of a gymnasium for allegedly stalking and blackmailing a 28-year-old woman on Wednesday.
The police said the woman got acquainted with the trainer Rajkumar, 30 of West Saidapet, at a gymnasium in Ashok Nagar. Claiming that he was estranged from his wife, he received ₹1.10 lakh in instalments from her. When he repeatedly compelled her to accept his proposal of love, she blocked his phone number.
Despite her efforts to avoid him, he continued to stalk her. He also threatened to upload her pictures on the internet, and would not return the money that he owed her.
Based on a complaint from the woman, the police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act. They arrested Rajkumar, and produced him before a magistrate court. He was granted bail.
