Muthulakshmi, 45, of Keeranur Kulathur, Pudukottai district, died in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a goods carrier at Sanoorapatti near Thanjavur on Thursday.
According to the police, the accident took place at the Main Bazaar Road, Sanoorapatti while the victim and her husband, Marimuthu, were travelling on a motorcycle towards Keeranur Kulathur. Both of them were knocked down from the motorcycle allegedly hit by a goods carrier from behind.
Muthulakshmi and Mr. Marimuthu were injured and rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital by the Sengipatti police. While Muthulakshmi was declared dead on arrival, Mr. Marimuthu has been admitted in the hospital. The Sengipatti police are investigating, the police added.
