The Lord Sri Venkateswara temple, located near the Pendurthi MDO office, here, will be installed with a 3 kWh rooftop solar plant, funded by Mukku Goutam, an NRI residing at Philadelphia, USA.
Currently, the temple is bearing the power bill costing between Rs. 4000-5000 which would be saved for next 20-25 years apart from energy independence, while 3KwH offsets around 4 tons of Carbon Emissions annually or equivalent to planting over 100 trees every year thus contributing to environmental preservation and aligning with traditional values of nature reverence, according to a release here.
As government subsidies are currently unavailable for non-residential consumers like temples, this initiative will be an initiative to bring awareness among the NRIs and interested philanthropists. Cost of 3 KwH is around Rs.1.4 lakh. A cheque handed over by his parents to the vendor through the executive officer of the temple.
