AIADMK stages protest condemning sexual assault on minor girl

The cadre of AIADMK on Saturday staged a protest in Arambakkam near Gummudipoondi condemning the sexual assault on a minor girl by an unidentified person last week and also demanding the police to arrest the suspect.

It may be recalled that the 10-year-old girl was abducted by the stranger while she was returning home from school on a secluded road and raped at a mango grove last Saturday evening in Arambakkam near Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district. The relatives of the child laid a siege to the Arambakkam Station on Friday.

Special teams were formed under three DSPs and intensified investigation to trace the suspect who is believed to have escaped to Andhra Pradesh. Police also are searching for him at suburban railway stations and EMU trains after releasing his picture.

In meantime, another sexual assault on a minor girl was reported in Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district. A 11-year-old girl studying seventh standard was sexually assaulted by another student at the same school. Following her complaint, All Women Police conducted an investigation. Since the boy was a juvenile, he was released after being produced in a court in Tiruvallur. The girl was given medical assistance at Government General Hospital, Ponneri.
