The Velgatoor police have arrested three persons, including two brothers, in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old youth at Kotilingala road in Velgatoor mandal of Jagtial district on Thursday (July 17, 2025).
The police identified the arrested accused as N. Raji Reddy, his brother N. Malla Reddy, and friend Ch. Harish of Velgatoor.
According to the police, the trio allegedly stabbed to death 26-year-old S. Mahesh, a native of Kishanraopet village, after forcibly whisking him away in an autorickshaw from near a wine shop on Kotilingala road on Thursday.
The motive behind the murder was to avenge the alleged harassment of the main accused’s daughter by the deceased in the name of love and veiled threats to post her morphed photographs on social media, police said.
Further investigation is underway.
