The Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch recently raided the foreign post office situated in Chamarajpet and recovered synthetic drugs, including 10 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of MDMA, 30 grams of ecstasy pills, and 70 grams of hydro ganja worth ₹6 lakh.
The drugs were being imported from different countries to peddlers living in different parts of the city who have been tracked down. As many as nine foreign nationals, including four from Nigeria, one each from Sudan and Congo, and two from Ghana, who were overstaying in the city and involved in anti-social activities, have been arrested, officials said.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the accused have been remanded in a detention centre. One of them has been deported and the process is on to deport the others.
The city police also stepped up vigil to check the possible entry and exit points by roping in canine squads to check on foreign postal services and warehouses at the airport and other overseas courier services.
