The All Women Police, Thousand Lights, arrested a 42-year-old man on charges of sexually harassing a 20-year-old woman as she was walking on a road in Nungambakkam.
According to the police, the woman from West Bengal has been working at a hotel in Nungambakkam. On Monday afternoon, when she was returning to her place of stay after finishing work, the accused approached her and sexually harassed by touching her inappropriately.
The woman raised an alarm, and the accused attempted to flee. On hearing her screams, passersby caught hold of the man and beat him.
Based on her complaint, All Women Police, Thousand Lights, registered a case of sexual harassment and stalking against the accused and arrested him. He has been identified as R. Venkatraman, 42, a native of Thoothukudi district. He worked at a share-trading firm in Nungambakkam, said the police.
