Two men have been arrested for laying a snare that led to the death of a leopard in Kattabettu forest range in the Nilgiris district on July 13, 2025.
The two accused were identified as B. Alkush alias Halan (57) and K. Thangaraj (62) from Nedugula II village in Kotagiri. The two men are alleged to have laid the snare using a brake wire in a private patta land at Bikkapathy in Kannerimukku which ensnared a leopard that was found dead.
The two men were arrested based on investigations carried out by the forest department.
