The second edition of ReGen 2025, an international conference on regenerative medicine, concluded in Chennai with the release of clinical guidelines for Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy.
Developed by a panel of 17 experts, the guidelines aim to standardise PRP procedures widely used in treating sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions and chronic pain by offering evidence-based protocols focused on safety, consent, and follow-up.
G.K. Kumar, organising secretary and head, Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital, said the guidelines fill a critical gap in clinical practice.
Sharmila Tulpule, chairperson of ReGen 2025 and consultant orthopaedic surgeon, said the conference created space for clinical training and international collaboration in a rapidly evolving field.
A. Navaladishankar, co-organising secretary and senior consultant, Apollo Hospital, called the launch a turning point for the country’s regenerative medicine ecosystem.
Niteen Tulpule, co-Founder and director, Orthobiologix Biotech Pvt. Ltd., said sessions also focused on emerging therapies such as autologous blood products, donor cell therapy, growth factor applications and bone marrow aspirate concentrate.
A pre-conference hands-on workshop was held on August 1 at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital.
