An 18-year-old person drowned in the beach while swimming in the beach with his friends near Neelankarai on Saturday.
A senior official of the City Police said three young persons including A. Abdul Ajeez, Vetrichelvan and Vimal, of Vettuvankeni had gone to the beach in Neelankarai and were swimming. A big wave swept Abdul Ajeez into the sea.
The remaining two youths informed the parents of Ajeez who filed a man missing complaint. On Saturday evening a body was found floating near Marina Beach. Immediately the Marina Beach police were alerted about the body. The body was identified to be Abdul Ajeez. His body was sent to the Government Royapettah hospital for postmortem.
