In two years, C. Kandaswami Naidu College for Men in Anna Nagar will celebrate its diamond jubilee and in preparation, it is taking all the necessary efforts to gather details about its alumni.
Started in 1967, the college was started by Kandaswami Naidu to empower boys from economically poor families to pursue higher education and seek employment. The college is a unit of Pachaiyappa’s Charities that runs Pachaiyappa’s College.
C. Kandaswami Naidu College For Men Alumni Association was started over a year ago and is registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration.
“We have 500 old students who have joined the association and we want more students to connect with the college,” says V. M. Muthuramalinga Andavar, principal of the college who is patron of the Association.
The Alumni has had three to four meetings so far, and wants to take up various initiatives for the welfare of its students.
The principal says that the college has a very reasonable fee structure, and last year, it was awarded NAAC – B Grade by University Grants Commission.
While the day college continues to be only open to boys, the evening college is co-educational. “We have plans to turn it into a co-educational institution so that girls are also benefited,” says the principal.
Old students can call 94444 51750 to know more about the event.
