Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari’s convoy was attacked at Coochbehar on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) afternoon by unknown miscreants.

“They shattered the windows of a bulletproof vehicle. I was saved because I was in a bulletproof car. I knew this would happen,” Mr. Adhikari, who was travelling to Coochbehar to attend a protest rally by the BJP, said.

Multiple vehicles in BJP’s protest rally, including the one in which the LoP was travelling in, were allegedly attacked with stones at Khagrabari in Coochbehar district. The windshields and rear glass panes of some vehicles were shattered.

BJP leader and former Union Minister Nisith Pramanik, who was accompanying the LoP, alleged that Trinamool Congress Minister Udayan Guha orchestrated the attack.

“We knew that Mr. Guha had some plan to target us when we were entering Coochbehar. They attacked the bulletproof car in a way that they shattered its windows. That proves that they were out for blood and that the Trinamool is feeling threatened,” Mr. Pramanik told local press persons.

However, Mr. Guha denied reports of the alleged attack happening at Khargrabari and said the local police had made sufficient arrangements to ensure law and order.
