The Fire and Rescue services personnel on Wednesday recovered the body of a Plus Two student who went missing near the Pathankayam waterfalls in Kozhikode district of Kerala on August 3. The deceased was as Alan, son of Ashraf, hailing from Manjeri in Malappuram district.
The body of the 17-year-old was recovered after a four-day long search with the support of various voluntary rescue teams and local residents. Rescue squad members said they found him nearly 100-metre away from the accident spot.
Alan went missing while he was bathing near the falls along with five other friends. Though the rescue squads immediately launched search operations, the heavy water currents turned out to be a challenge.
Police sources said the students had been warned by local residents about the recurring incidents of drowning at the ecotourism spot.
