The Sahitya Akademi has invited applications for the Yuva Puraskar 2026, from young Indian authors to participate across all 24 recognised Indian languages. The award aims to celebrate and promote the literary talents of the country’s youth.

Eligible authors must be aged 35 or below as of January 1, 2026. Submissions can be made by individual writers or publishers and must be sent before the deadline of August 31.

Each entry should include two copies of the submitted book along with a self-attested copy of a valid date of birth proof, such as an Aadhaar card, passport, driving license, or voter ID.

The Yuva Puraskar, instituted by the Sahitya Akademi, honors outstanding literary works by young writers in genres ranging from poetry and fiction to drama and literary criticism. Winners are awarded a cash prize, a copper plaque, and recognition from India’s national academy of letters.

Further details, including submission guidelines and eligibility criteria, are available on the Akademi’s website: www.sahitya-akademi.gov.in.
