Absconding dacoity case accused arrested

The Uppinangady police have arrested P.A. Illiyaz, an accused in 20 criminal cases, including several dacoity cases, who had failed to appear before jurisdictional courts for a long time.

In a statement, the police said non bailable warrant had been issued against Illiyaz, a resident of Thrissur, by the court for his failure to appear in a robbery case registered in 2017. A team comprising head constables, Prashant Rai and Ganesh, and police constables ,Mathew Verghese and M.K. Shrishaila, secured Illiyaz from Kerala and produced him before the court.

Illiyaz has 20 criminal cases against him in Puttur City, Uppinangady, Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district, and Thrissur and Mallapuram police stations in neighbouring Kerala, the police said.
