Over 45,000 persons attend camps held under NKS scheme

Multi-speciality medical camps under the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin (NKS) scheme were held in 36 districts, excluding Chennai and the Nilgiris, on Saturday. A total of 47,525 persons attended the medical camps, of which 60% were girls and women.

A total of 44,682 adults (17,311 men, 27,369 women and two transgender persons), and 2,843 children (1,473 boys and 1,370 girls) were screened at the camps.

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian inspected the camp conducted in Chengalpattu district.

He told reporters that the Chief Minister had announced that 1,256 camps would be held under the initiative in a span of six months in the State.

There are 388 blocks in the State. Three camps would be held per block, while 15 camps would be held in the Greater Chennai Corporation. Four camps each would be held in five corporations having a population of over 10 lakh and three camps each would be held in 19 corporations with a population of less than 10 lakh, according to a press release.
