In a freak accident, a drunk man, who lost the keys of his house, died while attempting to enter the house through the kitchen chimney from the terrace at Mamsapuram near Srivilliputtur in Virudhunagar district.
According to police, S. Prabhakaran (35), on August 6, 2025, had gone to his in-laws’ house in Mamsapuram in an inebriated condition, after his wife had left his house angered over his drinking habit. His wife had told him that she would come home the next day.
The man, who returned to his home, could not find the keys to open the door of his house. Hence, he tried to jump into the house through the kitchen chimney. He climbed up the terrace and entered into the chimney but got stuck inside it and died due to suffocation.
Firemen retrieved his body. Mamsapuram police have registered a case.
