The AIADMK in Puducherry has urged Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who also heads the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), to urgently convene a meeting of all parties in the front to stamp out simmering differences and strengthen cohesion between allies.

AIADMK Secretary A. Anbalagan emphasised the importance of such a meeting to put up a united front to face the next Assembly elections.

The AIADMK leader alleged “violation of coalition dharma” by certain BJP leaders who were transgressing into traditional strongholds of either the All India N. R. Congress (AINRC) or the AIADMK. He specifically pointed to constituencies like Raj Bhavan and Mudaliarpet where BJP leaders were engaging in welfare dole outs.

Such activities, which can be construed as BJP’s unilateral moves to field candidates in these seats, would serve to create rifts and weaken the coalition, he said.

“With elections only a few months away, such moves will weaken the alliance. The Chief Minister must immediately hold talks with all partners to ensure unity and prevent violations of alliance dharma,” Mr. Anbalagan said.

The AIADMK leader also revealed that the party hoped to contest in at least 10 constitutencies.
