Four persons drown in river in Tiruvarur district

Four persons reportedly drowned in the Puththaru at Kizhakudi hamlet in Nannilam taluk in Tiruvarur district on Monday.

According to sources, the group was passing through the village in a car. They stopped the vehicle on the banks of the river to have a swim. Subsequently, the Nannilam police were alerted, and they rushed to the spot along with the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) personnel.

The TNFRS personnel recovered the bodies. They were sent to the Government hospital at Nannilam for a post-mortem.

The Nannilam police registered a case and are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
