Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda told the Legislative Council that by December 2025, at least 2 lakh government land allottees will get podi (land demarcation document) through a State-wide campaign.

Currently, 73,390 survey numbers have 2.51 lakh allottees, while 67,000 survey numbers are yet to complete the ‘1-to-5’ process. The document requirement has been reduced from five to three to speed up work.

The Minister said the government is taking up podi proactively without waiting for applications, unlike previous regimes. All missing record cases are being handled by a special committee fortnightly.

He also pointed out that all taluk office records — about 100 crore pages — are being digitised, with 33 crore pages already scanned, to be fully accessible to the public by February 2026.

Empowering registrars

The State government will soon empower district registrars to cancel fraudulent property registrations proven to be based on forged documents or impersonation, Mr. Byre Gowda informed the Legislative Council on Wednesday.

Responding to Congress member Ramoji Gowda, the Minister said victims of such fraud currently have to seek relief through courts, which can take years. The proposed change will allow quicker action once fraud is established. A draft rule enabling this will be published later this month, he said.
