A store exhibiting products made by the prisoners lodged in Madurai Central Prison here was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. The products are on sale.
Administrative Judge of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court Justice S.M. Subramaniam inaugurated the store, which was named ‘Mobile Prison Store’ in the presence of the other High Court judges, DIG Prisons A. Murugesan, Superintendent of Madurai Central Prison M. Satheeshkumar and advocates.
The store was set up near the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre on the High Court premises. The dignitaries took a look at the variety of products and were impressed with the products.
The products made by prisoners such as shoes, clothes, blankets, wooden chairs, oils, pickles, sweets and savouries were on display and for sale at the store.
The store received a good reception from the people, many of whom bought the products. The store will be open once a week on Wednesdays.
