Three persons were killed and seven injured when a State-run public transport bus rammed into a truck parked by the roadside near Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka on August 16.
The accident occurred at Hittinabail Ghat during the wee hours on August 16 when the bus driver was reportedly trying to overtake another vehicle, police said.
The deceased have been identified as NeelavvaYaldurgappa Haradolli (40) of Guledgudda and Girijavva Ayyappa Budannavar (30) of Jalihal in Bagalkot district. The identity of the third deceased is yet to be ascertained.
Seven persons belonging to Aminagad, Badami and Hjnagund suffered injuries in the accident, and are recuperating.
Following a complaint by one of the passengers, the Yellapur police have registered a case against the driver of the bus and also that of the truck.
The truck driver had reportedly parked the vehicle without switching on the parking lights. Most of the passengers in the bus were travelling to Dharmasthala, the police said.
