A woman passenger was injured when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Minnal bus reportedly hit a pothole in Kozhikode in the early hours of Saturday. The passenger, a native of Meenangadi in Wayanad, sustained injuries when her head hit the upper berth of the bus, which was on its way to Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad from Thiruvananthapuram.

The incident took place within the city limits. The young woman, who fell unconscious in the impact and showed signs of epilepsy, was immediately taken to a private hospital in Kozhikode, where her condition was later reported to be stable.

Passengers said the incident was caused not only by the poor condition of the road stretch but also by the bus driver’s rash driving. The passengers who were sleeping reportedly suffered minor injuries in the impact.

On being contacted, the assistant transport officer of KSRTC, Kozhikode, said the incident was not reported to the city depot. In light of the news report, he said he would check with the crew at the Sulthan Bathery depot.

The executive director (operations) of KSRTC also said the incident was not reported to the headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
