In view of the continuous heavy rains lashing Eluru district and the rising flood levels in the Godavari, district officials have appealed to the public to remain alert and follow safety precautions.
The Electricity Department has cautioned people to stay away from electric poles, transformers, wires, and related equipment during the rains. Citizens have been advised not to operate electrical switches with wet hands and to ensure that no appliances or wires come into contact with waterlogged areas inside homes. Residents have also been urged not to touch snapped wires or approach them if they fall on trees, vehicles, or roads. Any such incident should be immediately reported to the toll-free number 1912.
Superintending Engineer P. Salman Raju emphasized the need to avoid erecting tents, sheds, or temporary structures near electric poles or transformers, and advised parents not to allow children to play near electrical installations.
