District Collector Sumit Kumar on Monday cautioned Agriculture, Horticulture, and Sericulture officials that strict action would be taken if they failed to maintain transparency in the distribution of subsidies to Totapuri mango farmers.
Speaking to the media here, the Collector said that according to the State government a subsidy of ₹4 per kg would be provided to Totapuri farmers who supply mangoes to pulp industries and procurement centres, and the distribution of subsidies should be undertaken in a transparent manner. The Collector said that around 3.75 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes had already been procured from 81,455 farmers in the district. Subsidies worth ₹130 crore is being credited directly to farmers’ accounts, he added.
Mr. Sumit Kumar instructed the mandal-level officers to complete the survey and data verification by August 20 (Wednesday) and ensure e-Crop records match the actual quantity supplied. “Field verification is mandatory for farmers who supply produce without proper registration,” he said.
Of the total stock, as many as 2.30 lakh tonnes were supplied by 49,535 farmers to pulp units, while 1.44 lakh tonnes were procured through ramps and market yards from 31,920 farmers. “Officials are clearly instructed to submit mandal-wise and Rythu Seva Kendram-wise hard copies of verified data by August 20, followed by signed records by August 23. “Any lapse in verification would amount to negligence and attract disciplinary proceedings,” the Collector said.
Earlier, the Collector held a review meeting with senior officials from the line departments.
