Ahead of the book fair scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 7 in Dindigul, 5,000 college students participated in a reading event in Dindigul on Wednesday. The event was presided over by Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan.
The Collector advised the students to read books. Books played an important role in shaping a person and reading books was an enriching and refining experience, he said.

Competitions and cultural events were being conducted as part of the event. The Collector released stickers and pamphlets to create awareness about the book fair among the public.
