After Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha ordered an inquiry on N. Aruna, who has been touted as ‘lady don’ on social media platforms, she was arrested near Addanki and shifted to Kovur police station on Wednesday. Later, she was produced in a court based on an extortion complaint filed by her house owner. The court sent her to 14-day judicial remand.
Addressing the media at Kovur police station, advocate P. Raja Rao said, “Aruna is accused of committing several scams in the name of a Disha member. She is allegedly involved in smuggling ganja and in many other crimes. She also blackmailed an apartment owner, Munaga Venkata Murali Krishnamohan, who asked her to vacate the flat in Padugupadu.”
According to the complaint lodged by the owner, Aruna had contacted him and entered into a rental agreement in December 2020 for flat number 503 for ₹7,500 per month to live with her father N. Narasimhulu. In October 2022, she paid ₹3 lakh as an advance against ₹28,00,000 to purchase the flat in her father’s name.
Aruna had entered into an agreement with Krishnamohan to pay the remaining amount of ₹25 lakh by February 2023. However, she has been allegedly harassing him by not paying the remaining amount, as well as the monthly rent, following which the owner filed a case in Kovur Principal Junior Civil Judge’s Court. Aruna and her followers Pallam Venu, Ankem Raja and Elish reportedly threatened to kill him.
Meanwhile, Aruna’s fiance, gangster A. Srikanth, who is serving life sentence in Nellore Central Jail, was found guilty of violating hospital rules, along with her in December 2024. Their videos are now going viral on social media. Within 24 hours of the Home Minister’s directives, orders were issued suspending three AR constables who had accompanied Srikanth to the hospital that day as escorts.
