Mansi Raghuwanshi beat compatriot Yashasvi Rathore 53-52 to clinch the junior women’s skeet gold in the 16th Asian shooting championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Thursday.
The two pushed qualification topper Lidiya Basharova to the bronze medal, and combined with Agrima Kanwar to bag the team silver.
In junior men’s skeet, Harmehar Singh Lally was beaten to the gold 53-52 by Artyom Sedelnikov of Kazakhstan. Jyotiraditya Sisodiya climbed to the bronze medal. The Indian team won the gold, four points ahead of the host.
In junior men’s air rifle, Abhinav Shaw pipped Lee Hyunseo of Korea by 0.1 for the gold. The Indian trio of Himanshu, Naraen Pranav and Abhinav, clinched the team gold with a world record score of 1890.1.
The best of Indian men, former World champion Rudrankksh Patil and fourth-placed Olympian Arjun Babuta failed to fetch medals in air rifle. The two finished fourth and fifth, while shooters from Kazakhstan, China and Korea swept the medals. India, however, did have the consolation of winning the team gold, 3.3 points ahead of China.
