A turnout of 1,300 plus students, six finalist teams facing five rounds each in Juniors (VII to IX) and Seniors (X to XII) categories with elan, vibrant response in the audience rounds for questions on various topics including History, Sports, Food, Wildlife, Entertainment, Politics, Current AffairsâŠ
The brightest minds from schools in Coimbatore and neighbouring districts vied with one another with a torrent of answers to the multitudes of questions during The Hindu In School Inter-School Quiz at the NGP Auditorium at Kalapatti in Coimbatore on Friday.
âThe exposure of the students is quite high; the response was amazing,â said quiz master Praveen Jayaraj, founder CEO of Coimbatore-based Multiverse Quizzing.
âIt was an intense battle. The second and third prize-winners in the senior round had to be decided by a tie-breaker. And, in the fifth and final round titled âfastest fingers firstâ where the students pressing the buzzers at an instant for answering 10 questions risk slipping in the ranking due to the negative marking for wrong response, there was not a single miss. It was amazing!,â said Mr. Praveen.
Five rounds â written, infinite pounce counce, pick your topic, infinite pounce bounce (again in the reverse order), and fastest fingers first, were common to both categories.
In all, there were 674 teams of two students each under both categories taking part in the competition with cash awards amounting to âč36,000.
The winning teams received cash prizes and medals from O.T. Buvaneswaran, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust, P.R. Muthusamy, Director, Dr. NGP Educational Institutions and S. Saravanan, Principal, Dr. NGP Arts and Science College.
S.P. Sreeram and N. Maheshwaran of The PSBB Millennium School, Coimbatore, were the winners in the Juniors category with 175 points, and in the Seniors category, the team of Heril S. Goti and Adithyan D.V. of Chinmaya International Residential School triumphed with 180 points.

The teams from Chinmaya International Residential School and Vidhya Nikethan Public School were adjudged second and third prize winners in Junior category.
