Two firms fined for selling spurious cosmetic products

The State Drugs Control department, which had launched Operation Soundarya to ensure that only safe and quality-assured cosmetic products are sold in the open market, has brought to book two firms which were selling spurious cosmetic products in the market.

In a case filed by the Drugs Control department in 2024, the judicial first class magistrate, Taliparamba, has asked Hazar Trading LLP, Taliparamba, to pay a fine of ₹20,000 for selling misbranded cosmetics. Gulfi Shoppy in Payyannur has also been asked by the Payyannur first class judicial magistrate to pay a fine of ₹40,000 for selling mis-branded cosmetics. Till now four fake cosmetic brands have been pulled up by the State Drugs Control department.
