The 28th State Maha Sabha of the Communist Party of India (CPI) commenced in Ongole on Saturday evening. A massive demonstration took place at the Municipal Open Theatre Grand near Nellore Bus Stand, followed by a public meeting at Uracheruvu Grand behind Kotha Market.
The two-day event features cultural programmes and delegatesâ meetings at SGVS Convention, next to South Bypass Sanghamitra. CPI national general secretary D. Raja, national secretary K. Narayana, Telangana State secretary K. Sambasiva Rao, Andhra Pradesh secretary K. Ramakrishna, and other leaders were present.
Delegates and activists paid floral tributes to veteran Communist leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, former CPI General Secretary and two-time Parliament member, who passed away in Hyderabad on Friday night (August 22, 2025).
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Narayana criticised the government, saying, âPrime Minister Narendra Modi, who had promised two crore jobs per year before coming to power, has failed to provide 22 crore jobs over the last 11 years and has destroyed countless others.â
Mr. Narayana further alleged, âThe Prime Minister misled the people by promising to bring back black money from Swiss banks and deposit âč15 lakh in every citizenâs account. While vowing to eliminate Naxalites, his policies have resulted in the killing of tribals to hand over forest lands to corporations.â
