He held a meeting with senior artistes of Tappetagullu, Puliveshalu, Burrakatha, Harikatha, Jamukulapata and others. in the premises of Kalapeetham located in Dasannapeta of Vizianagaram.
Speaking to media here, he said that over 5000 artistes were facing financial hurdles in the absence of income sources and pensions. âThe government should direct the endowments and cultural departments to collect the data of all the artistes so that their grievances could be brought to the notice of the government through proper channel. It would benefit society also as the artistes would continue to perform and enable youngsters to learn great folk arts which brought laurels to the North Andhra region,â said Mr. Kurma Rao.
