An attempt to murder case under Section 109 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the science teacher P. Rajender of the government urban residential school in Bhupalapally for allegedly mixing pesticide in the school’s drinking water tank on Friday.

As many as 11 students of the residential school were hospitalised following the incident. All of them are said to be in a stable condition now. The incident sparked outcry, prompting the district authorities to suspend Rajender and two other teachers as well as the cook of the residential school.

According to official sources, Rajender allegedly resorted to the gruesome act to tarnish the image of the State-run residential school, harbouring personal grudge against the special officer of the school. The Bhupalapally police have registered a case and are investigating.
