In a joint operation, the Kakatiya University Campus police and Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested a person for allegedly snatching chains and stealing bikes, recovering 237 grams of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹23.5 lakhs, three two-wheelers, ₹10,000 in cash, and one mobile phone.
At a press conference held at his office in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh revealed that the accused had been identified as 29-year-old Manthurthi Harish, a resident of Damer area, Elkathurthi Mandal, Hanumakonda district, currently living in a rented house at Reddy Colony.
The accused, a graduate, had previously worked as a quality technician in a cement company. He was earlier arrested for theft by Neredmet Police, Hyderabad, and remanded to jail this year. After his release on bail, Harish continued his extravagant lifestyle, funding it by committing chain snatchings in deserted areas, targeting women, and stealing two-wheelers to carry out these offenses.
According to the police, Harish was involved in a total of 10 chain snatching cases and three two-wheeler thefts under the Warangal Commissionerate.
