“There are many things to celebrate about Madras. First and foremost, Madras is the medical capital of India. People from all over India and abroad come here for treatment. Of the many specialties Madras offers, geriatrics is one – Madras was the birthplace of geriatric medicine in India with a department being started in Madras Medical College in 1978, and it now also houses the National Centre of Ageing,” says geriatrician V.S. Natarajan.
“There are other things to celebrate too – Chennai has no extremes of temperature unlike many other cities, it offers job opportunities for all, from across India and it has a vibrant roadside food stall culture that provides affordable meals to anyone who wants them.”
“My favourite part of Chennai though, is the beach – in my opinion it has the best beach in the world – Marina Beach! My best memories are of the beach, and even now, I love it. I enjoy the calm and quiet, and I enjoy watching the waves, especially by moonlight.”
