Railway users and leaders from Visakhapatnam have urged authorities at the East Coast Railway zone to introduce more train services from the city to various destinations. The appeal was made during the 11th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
K. Eshwar, a committee representative, and K. Vijay Kumar, executive member of the Duvvada Railway Users Association, shared the details with the media on Saturday. The meeting, chaired by East Coast Railway’s Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Rita Raj, addressed several key issues concerning local railway services.
Among the primary requests made by the committee members were a reduction in parking fees at Duvvada railway station, the introduction of local trains, and shuttle services connecting Srikakulam to Rajahmundry, and Kakinada via Visakhapatnam. They also proposed the establishment of a reservation facility at platform number four at Duvvada station. Additionally, the members advocated for new train routes from Visakhapatnam to Puri, Sambalpur, Narsapur, and Araku, along with a service between Guntur and Araku. They also met Vizianagaram MP and ZRUCC member K. Appalanaidu to submit a petition requesting a halt for the Vande Bharat train at Duvvada station.
