Health Dept. to strengthen TB screening programme

As part of the national-level strategy to make the country free from tuberculosis (TB), the Puducherry Health Department has decided to intensify the screening programme in all villages of Puducherry for early detection of TB among vulnerable sections by using handheld X-ray devices. The decision was taken at a review meeting held recently at the Chief Secretariat chaired by the Secretary to the Government, Health, Jayanta Kumar Ray. Collector A. Kulothungan, Assistant Director-General (TB) Raghuram Rao, and Director of the Health Department S. Sevvel attended the meeting. They also conducted a field visit to public health facilities and attended community programmes, an official release said.
