Hundreds of people gathered on the Beach Promenade area to witness the immersion of Vinayaka idols on Sunday evening. The procession carrying more than 100 idols installed by different groups, including Hindu Munnani, began at around 2 p.m. and culminated in the Beach Promenade around 6.30 p.m. Police regulated traffic at several places and no vehicles were allowed on J.N. Street, M.G. Road and S.V. Patel Salai. Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan, Director Perarasu, and BJP leaders were among those attended the immersion rituals.
