Woman injured in stray dog attack at Anakapalli

A 30-year-old woman, identified as S. Jyothi, sustained severe injuries after she was attacked by a stray dog near her house at Kotni Veedhi in Anakapalli on Tuesday (September 2, 2025).

She was rushed to NTR Hospital in Anakapalli where the doctors referred her to King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam.

The stray dog attacked Ms. Jyothi when she was busy in household chores.

Following the incident, teams from the veterinary wing of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) arrived at the location and launched an operation to capture the stray dogs.

Fourteen stray dogs were captured from various parts of the town. The authorities said that all stray dogs in the area were vaccinated.

The official later found the dog that attacked the woman dead. It is suspected that the dog may have been beaten to death by the residents.
