The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Trade Cell Convener for Srikakulam district, Gudisa Sai Kamesh, welcomed the Union government’s GST reforms on Thursday. He said that the GST reforms would bring direct direct and indirect benefits to people living in rural areas and that the zero slab rate for many consumer goods would reduce prices and improve affordability.
In a press release, Mr. Sai Kamesh said that the Modi government was taking decisions to favour all sections of the society. He said that the removal of GST on agriculture products would benefit backward districts like Srikakulam.
“The government reduced GST to 5% from 18% on tractors, drip irrigation systems and other agriculture equipment. It will be a major boost to the rural economy. The two rate GST structure will lead to a slash of prices of products. it will encourage consumption and improve money circulation,” added Mr. Sai Kamesh.
K.S. Babu former BJP vice-president Vizianagaram district, said that the GST reforms would boost trade activity in the district which is the major economic hub in North Andhra region.
