VCK leader and MP Thol. Thirumavalavan on Friday visited the family members of the TNSTC bus driver G. Ramakrishnan who was found dead in a dump yard at Uchapatti under Austinpatti police station limits.

Mr. Thirumavalavan offered condolences to the family members of the driver at Government Rajaji Hospital. He paid respects to the deceased and handed over financial assistance from the party funds to the family of the deceased.

According to the police, the deceased Ramakrishnan had recently contested the Labour Progressive Front election and lost. In her complaint, his wife R. Ramu Thulasi said ever since he lost the election, he was upset.

Ramakrishnan was operating the bus on Periyar-Kurandi route for the past eight years. After the election, he was forced to change the route. He had questioned the officials regarding this. It is said that Ramakrishnan who went for work on August 31 did not return home. He was found dead in the dump yard.

Ramu Thulasi raised suspicion over her husband’s death and filed a petition before the High Court seeking a direction to authorities to conduct postmortem as per the guidelines.

On Thursday, the court had directed that postmortem to be conducted by a team of two doctors with master’s degree in Forensic Medicine and attached to a Medical College and Hospital in the State. The postmortem should be videographed and kept in safe custody, the court had directed.
