A floral tribute was paid at the statue of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaram Pillai at V.O.C. Grounds in Coimbatore city on Friday, to mark his 154th birth anniversary.

Coimbatore MP Ganapathi P. Rajkumar and District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, led the ceremony, which was attended by Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, Deputy Mayor R. Vetriselvan, and other officials.

In recognition of his contributions, a ₹40-lakh statue of V.O. Chidambaram Pillai was installed at V.O.C. Grounds and inaugurated in May 2023. The Tamil Nadu government continues to maintain his memorials and commemorates his legacy to educate younger generations about his role in the independence movement.
