The Karnataka State Hotels’ Association (KSHA) has welcomed the GST Council’s recent reforms, calling them a major boost for the hospitality and tourism sectors.
KSHA president G.K. Shetty welcomed the reduction in GST on hotel rooms with tariffs up to ₹7,500 from 12% to 5%, and tax cuts on essential items such as diabetic foods, mushrooms, chocolates, and grain-based products.
Mr. Shetty thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for addressing the long-standing demands of the industry. He also urged the government to reduce the 18% GST levied on rent for hotels operating on leased premises.
