Three children killed in a road accident in Chamarajanagar

Three children were killed and another suffered serious injuries in a serial road accident involving four minor boys on a moped on a National Highway bypass road in Chamarajanagar on Saturday.

According to Superintendent of Police of Chamarajanagar B.T. Kavitha, the accident took place when the moped driven by the minors was involved in a serial accident with a car and a lorry on the National Highway bypass road.

While 13-year-old Mehran died on the spot, three others were rushed to Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) with serious injuries. After initial treatment at CIMS, the boys were shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru for further treatment. However, Rehan, 8, and Faisal, 11, succumbed to injuries at the hospital in Mysuru, while Adnan Pasha, 9, is undergoing treatment.

According to the police, the boys left their houses in Galipura layout in Chamarajanagar after finishing their classes on Saturday. On the National Highway 948 by-pass road, the moped collided with a car heading towards Talawadi. The car, after losing control, rammed an oncoming lorry.

As the moped came under the wheels of the lorry, one boy died on the spot and three others were seriously injured.

Two passengers in the car also suffered injuries in the accident. Upon receiving information, personnel from Chamarajanagar traffic police station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to hospital.

Meanwhile, Chamarajanagar MLA C Puttarangashetty visited CIMS Hospital and consoled the family members and relatives of the minors involved in the mishap. The Chamarajanagar Traffic police have registered a case.
